In Core Language Arts, we did...
Crispin by AVI
In CORE Language Arts, we read a novel called Crispin, The Cross Of Lead by AVI. It's a novel that takes time in the Middle Ages, and talks about a boy who is proclaimed to be a "wolf's head" from a gruff man called John Ayecliffe, who is the steward. He goes on a journey with a man called Bear, and finds out more about his unknown life.
We needed to write reflections about the chapters, meaning writing about how we felt. After finishing reading the story, I felt like Crispin worried a bit too much in the beginning, but as time passed on, I noticed how he eventually changed throughout the story. Near the end, he became a courageous young boy who defeated his troubles and could live carefree.
For the reflections, we made journal entries in GoogleDocs. GoogleDocs is basically the internet version of Microsoft, and the process was easy, and good for thinking. This experience helped me reflect on things, which could be useful for real problems. In conclusion, this is a good learning experience, and it is also entertaining, because your reading a good book, and reflecting on how you feel at the same time.

Andalusion Poem

In English Core, we did an Andalusion poem. It's a poem where they describe some certain things, but not some certain PERSON. Also, they don't use images for a poem, since the words are descriptive enough for your mind to picture it.
My poem is about Sher Dil, the puppy from Shabanu's story. Since his name means "lion heart," I used it as a virtue of his nature. He also acted like a soldier, herding the camels and other animals. He was also loyal to Shabanu and her family, and since he was loyal and did a great job, I did an idea where he was rewarded with a chapati and a belly rub. Also, this was when they were camping near Mehrabpur, where Shabanu would soon meet her fiance.
I used GoogleDocs for this. Mr. Kimbley was the one who introduced me to it on the second week of school. Ever since he showed us, I've been using it non-stop! It's basically a Microsoft Word but online!

Shabanu Response Journal: Shatoosh

Mrs. Kanzler assigned the class to read a novel called Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind. We were told to a self response to the chapter we were currently reading, answering questions like "What did you think of the story?" or "How do you think this affected the main character?" You have to answer the questions in a complete paragraph, and do a self-reflect, like you're a critique. You CAN NOT summarize, you only have to express your feelings about the chapter.
For this project, I used GoogleDocs. it was introduced to me from Mr. Kimbley, and is very easy to use.
